Ontario was the first province in Canada to introduce a registry for lobbyists. Read the Lobbyists Registration Act, 1998.

Some lobbyists may be required to submit an attestation under the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act, 2010. For information on this, see Interpretation Bulletin #4 "Can my client pay me with public money?"

Types of Lobbyists

Checklists

The Office has created two types of checklists for all three types of lobbyists. Registration Checklists can be used when completing registration, while Compliance Checklists cover timelines and information about keeping registrations current and compliant with the Act. Changes to Lobbying Target Names

Lobbyists are responsible for ensuring that the lobbying targets in their registrations are updated following a cabinet shuffle or any changes to ministerial titles and ministry names. To assist lobbyists in keeping registrations up to date, the Office has a page that shows the previous and the new lobbying target names.
